San Antonio's Libraries Mark Día de los Muertos Saturday: Story Time and a Family Movie at Westfall, Spooky Cookies at Molly Pruitt

The San Antonio Public Library's Día calendar lands three programs on Halloween Saturday itself: Family Story Time at Westfall from 10 to 11 a.m., a family movie screening there from 2 to 4 p.m., and an adults-only Spooky Cookies & Crafts party at Molly Pruitt from 1 to 3 p.m.

San Antonio's library system is carrying Día de los Muertos through Halloween Saturday with programs at two branches, according to the San Antonio Public Library's official Día announcement, read in full this cycle. At the Westfall Branch Library, 6111 Rosedale Court, Family Story Time — Día de los Muertos runs Saturday, October 31, from 10 to 11 a.m.: stories about the holiday, which honors loved ones who have passed away and celebrates their memories, followed by craft and playtime.

Westfall's day continues in the afternoon. The library's Día de los Muertos Family Movie Screenings run there Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. — free screenings of what the library describes as a vibrant tale of family, fun and adventure — with a second screening scheduled Sunday, November 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Guerra Branch Library, 7978 Military Drive West. Across town, the Molly Pruitt Library, 5110 Walzem Road at Roosevelt High School, holds Spooky Cookies & Crafts for Adults on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.: cookie decorating, bedazzling a decorative skull magnet for Día de los Muertos, and making a mini fall-themed flower 'booquet' — a Halloween party the library specifies is just for adults.

The Saturday programs close a library Día season that began October 22 with a sensory story time at Memorial Branch and continued through paper-skull crafts on October 29 and a Forest Hills story time on October 30, the announcement lists. The library says a full list of events and details is on its online events calendar at mysapl.org, and staff are reachable at 210-207-2500. For families splitting Saturday between trick-or-treat hours and Día observance, the library's schedule is the daytime bridge: stories in the morning, crafts and a movie in the afternoon, and the city's main Pearl celebration still ahead on Sunday (SQ-20261031-014).
