Halloween Saturday is a closing day as much as a party day in San Antonio. At the San Pedro Playhouse, 800 W. Ashby Place, 'Little Shop of Horrors' — the botanical horror musical about a ravenous plant, with songs by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken including 'Suddenly, Seymour' — plays its final performance today, October 31, according to San Antonio Magazine's Halloween weekend guide, read in full this cycle. It is the last chance the guide lists for that production.

The morning belongs to runners in costume. The Texas Brewery Running Series' Boos & Brews 5K starts from Alamo Beer Company, 202 Lamar Street — check-in at 10:15 a.m., run at 11 a.m. — a 5K-ish route through the Dignowity and River North neighborhoods, with costumes encouraged, prizes for best dressed, and games, music and vendors at the taproom, the guide said. All ages are welcome. In the evening, 'The Wiz' — the Tony Award-winning retelling of 'The Wizard of Oz' with its soul, gospel and funk score, on a new national tour straight from Broadway — plays the Majestic Theatre, 224 E. Houston Street, on the last of its October 30-31 San Antonio dates.

The nightcap is at Pearl. Old Crow Medicine Show brings its Union Made Tour to Stable Hall, 307 Pearl Parkway, at 8 p.m., with support from Ken Pomeroy; the Grammy-winning Americana string band's 12th full-length album, 'Union Made,' was released in June, the guide said. Between the Playhouse closing, the costume run, the Majestic and Stable Hall, Halloween Saturday offers San Antonio a full day that does not depend on a single candy route — and Sunday turns the city's attention to Día de los Muertos, with Pearl's main celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. (SQ-20261031-014).
