TxDOT Plan Would Widen Potranco Road From Two Lanes to Six on the Far West Side
The proposed Farm Road 1957 upgrade between County Road 381 and Texas 211 would add raised medians, curbs, bicycle and pedestrian paths, and drainage improvements through a fast-growing neighborhood.

The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing a major widening of Potranco Road — Farm Road 1957 — through the growing Far West Side, expanding the roadway from two lanes to six.
The proposed upgrades cover the stretch between County Road 381 and Texas 211 and are aimed at increasing mobility and safety on that corridor. The plan includes raised concrete medians, curbs, paths for bicyclists and pedestrians, and drainage improvements.
TxDOT presented the proposal at an open house on October 21 at the San Antonio Glasshouse, 3847 Grosenbacher Road, and is also offering a virtual version of the open house for residents who could not attend in person.
No construction schedule is part of the proposal as presented this week. The Traffic Desk will follow the project as TxDOT's plans for the Far West Side corridor take shape, alongside the department's ongoing Loop 1604 and Interstate 35 work on the North and Northeast sides.
