Loop 410 Westbound Drivers Get One More Night of Lane Closures Between San Pedro and West Avenue (T.W.A. NEWS)

North Side drivers heading west on Loop 410 between San Pedro Avenue and West Avenue have one more construction night to plan around. The overnight lane closures that began Sunday night, Oct. 25, are scheduled to run through Friday morning, Oct. 30, with work nightly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on the Loop 410 San Pedro Improvements Project, according to the project summary read this run.

Crews are painting new lane markings and installing concrete barriers along the westbound lanes. As many as four lanes could be closed simultaneously, although at least one lane is expected to remain open, and entrance and exit ramps may also close temporarily as the work progresses. The affected lanes reopen each morning, so daytime drivers should not expect the same restrictions — anyone traveling after 9 p.m., including airport traffic, should allow extra time. The posted construction-zone speed limit is 45 mph, down from 55.

The work is part of a $156 million project to improve traffic flow and safety around the Loop 410 and U.S. 281 interchange, covering about 4.3 miles of Loop 410 between West Avenue and Broadway Street and another 2.7 miles of U.S. 281 between Loop 410 and East Nakoma Drive, with relocated ramps, improved intersections and frontage-road changes. Construction continues in phases through 2029. All announced closures are weather permitting — and Thursday's heavy rain is exactly the kind of weather that can shift a striping schedule, so drivers should check current TxDOT information before traveling overnight.
