Paxton Drops the Alamo Finale From His 'Come and Take It' Tour, and Will Close in Conroe and Allen Instead
Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton's two-week bus tour was built to end Monday night at the Alamo. Instead his campaign's Monday listings are Conroe at 11 a.m. and Allen at 5:30 p.m. — the Alamo Trust told Texas Public Radio it knew of no event on the grounds, where political events are generally prohibited, and the campaign has not explained the change.

The last stand will not be at the Alamo. Republican U.S. Senate nominee Ken Paxton had billed the finale of his two-week 'Come and Take It' bus tour as a Monday, November 2 rally at the Alamo, the landmark his tour was named for. On Saturday, two days before the event, the Alamo stop came off the schedule, the San Antonio Current reported: the only Monday events on the campaign's Eventbrite listings are Conroe at 11 a.m. and Allen at 5:30 p.m., at a restaurant some 300 miles from San Antonio, and Paxton's website listed no Monday events at all.
The landmark's own managers say no rally was ever booked with them. The Alamo Trust, which oversees the site, told Texas Public Radio on Friday that it was unaware of any plans for Paxton to host an event on the grounds, and the Alamo's rules generally prohibit political events there, per the Current's account. The Paxton campaign did not respond to the Current's questions about what prompted the change, and had offered limited information about the original Alamo event from the start.
The dropped finale is not the tour's only change. Paxton's closing push also saw events in El Paso, Tyler, Texarkana and Mission cancelled or rescheduled, prompting James Talarico, his Democratic opponent, to declare a 'Paxton bus tour crashout' in a statement Friday: 'No one's going to Ken Paxton's rallies, so he's canceling them and hoping Elon Musk will buy this seat for him,' Talarico said, alluding to the more than $200 million the Current reported Musk has spent on Paxton's behalf. Talarico closes his own 'Clear Eyes, Full Hearts' tour Monday in Austin. Paxton still campaigned in the San Antonio area on Sunday evening, at an event about 15 miles north of the Alamo, per the campaign's revised schedule as reported Sunday.
