Loop 1604 Weeknights: Alternating Closures Between Bulverde and Judson Keep One Lane Open, 9 P.M. to 5 A.M.
TxDOT's weekly notice for the Loop 1604 North expansion's Segment 5 puts alternating mainlane, frontage and intersection closures on weekday nights between Bulverde Road and Judson Road — plus daytime frontage work and two long-term closures at Bulverde.

North and Northeast Side drivers get a weeknight pattern to learn on Loop 1604. TxDOT's weekly lane closure notice for the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project — Segment 5, Redland Road to Judson Road — schedules alternating eastbound and westbound mainlane closures between Bulverde Road and Judson Road on weekday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., with one lane to remain open at all times, and alternating frontage-road closures on the same stretch and schedule.
The intersections take turns, too: the notice lists alternating Loop 1604 intersection closures at Bulverde Road and O'Connor Road on weekday nights, only one intersection closed at a time. Daytime work runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, with alternating eastbound frontage-road closures between Bulverde and Judson and eastbound exit-ramp closures to O'Connor Road and Judson Road.
Two closures are long-term and run around the clock: the eastbound-to-westbound and westbound-to-eastbound U-turns at Bulverde Road are closed for barrier placement, and the westbound exit ramp to O'Connor Road is closed. The notice lists no weekend closures for this segment, and TxDOT notes all closures are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. The Traffic Desk's advice: weeknight trips across the Bulverde-to-Judson stretch after 9 p.m. will move, but slowly — build the single-lane squeeze into the trip, and check the live traffic panel on twanews.com before heading out.
