Texas Early Voting Through Thursday: 6,847,023 Ballots, and 473,175 of Them in Bexar County
Through October 29, Texans had cast 6,847,023 early ballots — already 1.35 million past the state's entire 2022 early vote — with Bexar County at 473,175 and in-person turnout running far ahead of 2022 statewide.

Texas's early vote entered its final day already in record territory. Through Thursday, October 29 — the eleventh of twelve early-voting days — 6,847,023 early ballots had been reported statewide, according to the TexPolls turnout tracker compiling the Secretary of State's reports with Harris and Hill counties' own reports, read in full this cycle; the state's own report alone shows 6,793,811. Either count is far past the entire 2022 midterm early vote of 5,497,027, with Friday's ballots still to add.
The shape of the vote is in-person and it is not close to 2022: 6,595,623 Texans had voted in person and 251,400 mail ballots had been received, putting in-person voters at 34.6 percent of the state's 19,041,684 registered voters, against 25.2 percent at the same point in 2022. Harris County leads the state at 948,979 reported ballots, followed by Dallas at 550,219, Tarrant at 524,538 and Bexar County at 473,175 — 450,256 in person and 22,919 by mail, 35.7 percent of Bexar's registered voters, up 8.3 points from the same day in 2022.
The tracker carries its own cautions, and the desk carries them with the numbers: six counties' state counts look low as of October 29, so the statewide total may rise as reports complete; mail ballots received are not necessarily accepted or counted; early-voting hours were lengthened by law after 2022, so the comparison is not exact; and the totals show who voted, never how. Early voting ended Friday at 7 p.m.; the remaining electorate — roughly two in three registered Texans had not voted early — gets its turn on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
