Texas will decide its midterms with the largest electorate in state history. Secretary of State Robert Howden announced that Texas has 19,041,684 registered voters ahead of the November 3 general election — a record number for the state, according to the secretary's official release, read in full this cycle. The statewide roll is a 2.2 percent increase from the November 2024 general election and a 2 percent increase from the March 2026 primary.

'Texas continues to see strong voter registration numbers, and we want every eligible Texan to be prepared to participate in the upcoming election,' Howden said in the release, urging voters to make a plan, learn their ballot, and use the resources at VoteTexas.gov. The secretary's county table, checked against the announced total in The American Quorum's arithmetic review read this cycle, places Bexar County at 1,325,780 registered voters — behind Harris County's 2,746,177 and Dallas County's 1,493,955, and ahead of Tarrant and Travis counties.

A registration record is not a turnout forecast: the roll counts who may vote, not who has. What it frames is the size of Tuesday's remaining electorate — with more than 6.28 million Texans already banked in early voting (see SQ-20261030-055), roughly two in three registered voters had not yet cast a ballot when early voting closed Friday at 7 p.m. Election Day polls run 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, and the secretary's office directs voters to VoteTexas.gov to check registration, find their polling place, and review the photo ID rules.
