UTSA is still perfect in the American Conference. The Roadrunners beat Tulane 42-19 at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans on Saturday night, scoring in every quarter — 14, 7, 14 and 7 — and turning six Green Wave turnovers into control of a game that started against them. Tulane's Anthony Rogers intercepted UTSA quarterback Owen McGowan five seconds into the game and returned it 22 yards for a touchdown, and UTSA answered on the ground: A'Marion Peterson scored on a direct snap to tie it, then ran in a second touchdown late in the first quarter for a 14-7 lead the Roadrunners never gave back.

Tulane kept giving the ball away. Three straight Green Wave possessions ended in fumbles in the first half, and McGowan ran in a touchdown with 4:23 left in the second quarter to make it 21-7, with three Tulane turnovers already turned into 14 UTSA points. Cooper Helmke field goals of 38 and 33 yards pulled Tulane within 21-13 at halftime, but UTSA owned the third quarter — a nine-yard touchdown run and a short punch-in from the Tulane 5 stretched the lead to 35-13 while the Green Wave offense went backwards.

Tulane's one late surge came from Johnnie Daniels, who broke an 81-yard run to the UTSA 7 and finished the drive himself to cut it to 35-19, with the two-point try failing. A deep Trace Johnson interception late — Tulane's sixth turnover of the night — set up UTSA's sixth touchdown and the 42-19 final. The numbers matched the story: UTSA outgained Tulane 396 to 332, rushed for 223 yards to Tulane's 67, and converted 12 of 16 third downs. The win moves UTSA to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in American play, atop the league, and ends Tulane's 10-game home winning streak; the Green Wave fall to 3-4 and 1-2 in conference.
