Trump Says Canada Has Been Treating the US Extremely Nicely Lately at Rock Hill Rally
President Donald Trump, who has been engaged in a tariff war with Canada, told a campaign rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on Thursday that Canada has been treating the United States extremely nicely recently, Reuters reported.
President Donald Trump told a campaign rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on Thursday that Canada has been "treating us extremely nicely lately," Reuters reported. Trump was in Rock Hill campaigning for Republican Senate candidate Darline Graham, in the final stretch before Tuesday's midterm elections.
"They're treating us extremely nicely lately," Trump said, according to Reuters. Trump said the tariffs he imposed on Canada have had the effect of improving relations, Reuters reported — a striking turn in tone from a president who has been engaged in a tariff war with Canada.
The remark came on the same day Trump canceled planned weekend campaign stops in Kansas and Iowa and said he would instead phone in to tele-rallies nationwide, a change this station reported Thursday night. He is still expected to rally in Florida on Friday, Reuters reported. Tuesday's elections will determine whether Republicans retain narrow control of the Senate and the House.
