Texas Loses Its Blind Side: Left Tackle Trevor Goosby Is Out for the Season With a Knee Injury
ESPN reported Sunday that senior Trevor Goosby, the country's top NFL prospect at left tackle, will miss the rest of the season after injuring his left knee in Saturday's 34-27 win over Ole Miss — a win that lifted Texas to No. 11 in the AP Top 25.

Texas' biggest win of the season came with a season-changing cost. Left tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury in Saturday's 34-27 win over Ole Miss, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Sunday. The senior injured his left knee in the first quarter, was carted off the field, and returned to the sideline on crutches; after the game, head coach Steve Sarkisian told reporters the injury did not look very good, according to reporting on the game.
Goosby is not a replaceable part. The 6-foot-7, 325-pound senior from Melissa, Texas, earned first-team All-SEC honors from the league's coaches in 2025, and ESPN's Field Yates ranked him the No. 8 pick in his most recent 2027 NFL mock draft — the top offensive tackle prospect in the country. Longhorns Wire, citing Pro Football Focus figures, reported he had not allowed a sack in 223 pass-blocking snaps this season. He had already come back once this year, returning for the season opener after a bone bruise in the same left knee during preseason camp.
The replacement is already on film. Senior backup Andre Cojoe took over for the rest of Saturday's game, and the protection problems showed early in the second half, when Ole Miss beat Cojoe for the strip-sack that produced a defensive touchdown and opened the Rebels' comeback from 24-3 down. Texas still held on, and on Sunday the Longhorns climbed to No. 11 in the AP Top 25 after their second win over a top-10 opponent.
The line reshuffle lands on an already thin roster. Texas played Saturday without pass rusher Colin Simmons, who leads the FBS with 10.5 sacks, and without running back Hollywood Smothers, and wide receiver Cam Coleman — 348 receiving yards and six touchdowns this season — left the Ole Miss game with an apparent shoulder injury. Texas hosts Mississippi State on Saturday night (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN), with its quarterback's blind side now the team's biggest question.
