James Talarico Has Raised More Than $158 Million for His Senate Bid, About Four Times Ken Paxton's Total
The latest federal filings, reported Monday, put Talarico's haul — including a record $64 million third quarter — second only to Raphael Warnock's 2022 campaign, with about $12 million on hand to Paxton's $6 million.

The money in Texas' U.S. Senate race is lopsided. State Rep. James Talarico, the Democratic nominee, has raised more than $158 million for his Senate campaign, about four times the nearly $39 million raised by Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Republican nominee, according to the latest federal filings reported by The Texan on Monday, Oct. 26.
Talarico's total includes a record $64 million in the third quarter, and the reported figure would rank second all time, behind Sen. Raphael Warnock's 2022 campaign. Entering the final week, Talarico has about $12 million on hand, while Paxton's committees have about $6 million, according to the same reporting.
The filings do not end the outside-money story: Republican super PACs, underwritten largely by Elon Musk, have poured in outside money, while candidates themselves buy advertising time at discounted rates. The same report put Talarico ahead by 1.5 points in the RealClearPolitics average, with forecasters rating the Nov. 3 race a toss-up. Early voting runs through Friday, Oct. 30.
