San Antonio Leaders Unveil Plan for a Stronger, Safer City
City officials outline new initiatives focused on infrastructure, public safety and economic growth as San Antonio continues to expand.

City leaders took the wraps off a wide-ranging plan this week aimed at making San Antonio stronger and safer as the city continues its rapid expansion, laying out new initiatives focused on infrastructure, public safety and economic growth.
The plan pairs long-promised road and drainage work with new investment in neighborhood services, with city officials saying the goal is to make sure growth reaches every side of town — not just the fastest-growing corridors.
Public safety sits at the center of the package. The proposal outlines steps to put more officers in neighborhoods, modernize emergency response and expand the community programs that city leaders credit with building trust between residents and first responders.
On the infrastructure side, the plan maps out a multi-year schedule of street repairs, flood-control projects and bridge work, sequenced so that the busiest corridors are tackled first. Business owners downtown and along the River Walk said smoother streets and safer sidewalks would be felt immediately.
City officials said the economic pieces — support for small businesses, workforce training and streamlined permitting — are designed to keep San Antonio's momentum going while spreading new jobs beyond the urban core.
The plan now moves into a series of public meetings across the city, where residents will be able to weigh in before final votes are taken. T.W.A. News will carry those meetings live and track every major milestone as the plan rolls out.
