A San Antonio nonprofit founder who supplies mothers with the basics from her own home has been honored for the work. Kristina Rhodes received a $1,000 Cash for Kindness award on Tuesday for her community work supporting local mothers through her organization, Glory Rhodes to Motherhood, according to KABB Fox SA's reporting. Rhodes runs the nonprofit from her home on the Northeast Side, supplying formula, diapers and clothing to families in need.

The organization currently serves 13 mothers daily with essential baby supplies. Fox SA and the law firm DJC Law presented the prize — and the presentation had a twist: a producer first contacted Rhodes while posing as a mother in need of support, the report said, before the award was revealed.

Rhodes plans to use the prize money to purchase a car to improve her ability to distribute the goods, according to the report. The award is a small-dollar honor with a practical edge: for a home-based operation serving more than a dozen mothers a day, transportation is distribution — and the $1,000 goes directly into the part of the work that gets supplies to doors.
