Spurs Take the Show to Austin Friday Night, Then Dallas on Saturday
After Tuesday's 116–104 opening-night loss to Oklahoma City at the Frost Bank Center, San Antonio gets two quick chances to answer — Houston in Austin on Friday, then a trip up I-35 to Dallas.

Opening night did not go the Spurs' way. In a rematch of last spring's Western Conference finals — a series San Antonio won in seven games — the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Spurs 116–104 on Tuesday at the Frost Bank Center behind 32 points from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The game turned in the second quarter, when Oklahoma City outscored San Antonio 31–16.
Stephon Castle led the Spurs with 24 points and Dylan Harper added 18, but San Antonio shot just 39 percent from the floor and 27 percent from three. Victor Wembanyama's offense never got loose — though he still blocked six shots at the other end. Jared McCain scored 20 off the Thunder bench and Chet Holmgren added 14 points and seven rebounds.
There is no time to dwell on it. The Spurs play their Austin game Friday night, hosting the Houston Rockets at the Moody Center, then turn around and play at Dallas on Saturday night. They are back home at the Frost Bank Center on Tuesday, Oct. 27, against Sacramento.
The Sports Desk will have Friday's final from Austin the same night, plus the Friday high school football roundup by 11:30 p.m.
