Both the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets may be without multiple key players in Friday night's matchup at the Moody Center in Austin, according to the final injury report reported by Athlon Sports on Friday afternoon. San Antonio enters the game 0-1 after losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, while Houston is 1-0 after defeating the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

For the Spurs, De'Aaron Fox is listed as questionable with a right wrist sprain suffered in the Oklahoma City loss, and Keldon Johnson is questionable with a mouth laceration. Tobias Harris remains out with a strained left calf, and 2026 first-round pick Jayden Quaintance is out as he continues to recover from right knee surgery. If Fox sits, Athlon reported, Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper could both take larger backcourt roles; Castle led San Antonio in the opener with 24 points and seven rebounds, and Harper added 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Houston's report grew on Friday: Reed Sheppard was added as questionable with a left knee contusion and bone bruise, and Steven Adams remains questionable with right calf tightness and soreness and is in danger of missing his second straight game, according to the report carried by Athlon. Kevin Durant led Houston in its opener with 30 points, six rebounds and three assists, with Jabari Smith Jr. also scoring 30.

Durant, back in Austin, where he played for the Longhorns, spoke about the matchup during media availability, in remarks reported by Sports Illustrated. "[The Spurs] are a deep team. They've got one of the most unique players to ever touch the floor at the center position," Durant said of Victor Wembanyama and San Antonio. "It's going to be tough. We got our work cut out for us." Tipoff is at 8:30 p.m. CT at the Moody Center on Amazon Prime Video.
