Spurs Host the Winless Kings on Tuesday With Only Harris and Quaintance Out

The Spurs play their first home game of the week on Tuesday night, hosting the winless Sacramento Kings at Frost Bank Center at 7 p.m., three nights after a 122-106 win in Dallas that the team pointedly did not celebrate. Victor Wembanyama scored a team-high 23 points with seven rebounds in that win, Dylan Harper added 22, and De'Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle scored 19 apiece as San Antonio pulled away with a 30-17 fourth quarter after leading by only three entering the final period, according to the Reuters and Field Level Media preview of Tuesday's game.

The first official NBA injury report for the game, issued Monday, is short on the San Antonio side: forward Tobias Harris and rookie Jayden Quaintance are both listed out, and no Spur is listed as questionable. Sacramento's list is longer — Dylan Cardwell, Keegan Murray, Maxime Raynaud and Ben Simmons are out, and Sean Pedulla is listed out on a G League two-way assignment. The report was the league's 6 p.m. Eastern update on Monday, the first carrying statuses for this game, and statuses can still change before tipoff.

Sacramento arrives at 0-3, having allowed at least 121 points in each of its first three games, most recently a 123-112 home loss to Memphis on Sunday in which Zach LaVine scored 37 points and Domantas Sabonis added 15 points and 15 rebounds. San Antonio, at 1-2 after opening losses to Oklahoma City and Houston, returned its top 10 players from last season's run to the NBA Finals, and head coach Mitch Johnson has spent the first week pressing for consistency after stretches in each game in which, in his assessment, the team has been outplayed. After Tuesday, the Spurs fly to Utah for a Wednesday night game, the second half of a back-to-back.
