Victor Wembanyama posted 36 points and 14 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the injury-plagued Utah Jazz 117-111 in overtime in Salt Lake City on Wednesday night, Reuters reported. Devin Vassell scored 12 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter and the extra period for the Spurs, who won their third straight game and improved to 3-2.

Utah, which has lost three in a row, got 31 points from Keyonte George, 19 from Ace Bailey and 18 from Darryn Peterson. George leveled the score at 105 on a left-handed drive with 41.4 seconds remaining in regulation. Wembanyama missed a turnaround jumper, and George and De'Aaron Fox then traded long-range misses, forcing overtime.

In the extra session, Utah's Brice Sensabaugh hit a pair of three-pointers to start and finish the period, but San Antonio scored 12 straight points in between to take control. The short-handed Jazz played without Lauri Markkanen (wrist) and Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee), two of their three leading scorers this season, who joined Jusuf Nurkic (toe) on the sideline.

Utah led 32-22 after the first quarter and 46-35 in the second before Wembanyama led the rally, scoring 12 second-quarter points for a 21-point half as San Antonio closed to 55-51 at intermission. The third quarter featured seven ties and four lead changes and ended 85-85. The Spurs return home to face Minnesota on Saturday, Oct. 31, according to the Associated Press game report.
