Spooky Sweet Tooth Crawl Sends Costumed Dessert Hunters Across San Antonio on Saturday
The Halloween edition of the Sweet Tooth Crawl runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting at The Starlighter on Fredericksburg Road — collector card, spooky map and stickers in hand, costumes encouraged.

San Antonio's dessert map gets a Halloween overlay on Saturday. The Spooky Sweet Tooth Crawl, a self-guided tour of local bakers, cafés, dessert businesses, cottage bakers and food vendors, runs Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the event's official listing.
The crawl starts at headquarters — The Starlighter, home of Monti's Munchies, at 1910 Fredericksburg Road — where crawlers pick up an official collector card, a spooky crawl map and their first collectible sticker. From there the route runs stop to stop across the city: at each participating business, crawlers can shop for treats, collect an exclusive business sticker and, where offered, sample while supplies last. A completed collector card, returned to The Starlighter or sent in as a photo, enters the crawler in the Spooky Sweet Tooth raffle, with prizes from participating businesses.
Costumes are not just allowed, they are judged. The listing says costumes are highly encouraged — spooky, cute, funny, handmade or food-inspired — and 2 to 3 Costume Crawler winners will be picked at the end of the day in categories including Most Creative, Best Costume Concept and Most Spooktacular, each receiving a gift and a custom award ribbon commissioned from a local small business. A limited Spooky Munchie Bundle, at $30, pairs a crawl ticket with a Monti's Munchies tote and a surprise goodie bag in a collaboration with Magical Girl Bella.
The organizers state the crawl's purpose plainly in the listing: it was created to celebrate San Antonio's small-business community and encourage people to discover businesses they may not have visited before — in their words, "community over competition, collaboration over comparison." It lands on a crowded Saturday in the city, alongside Muertos Fest at Hemisfair and Market Square's Día de los Muertos celebration, a week before Halloween.
