Man Wanted on a Felony Warrant Is Critically Wounded After Police Say He Fired on Undercover SAPD Officers on Marbach Road
SAPD Chief Jesse Salame said undercover officers were following the 31-year-old on Sunday evening when he waved a firearm from his vehicle and fired at them; a front-seat passenger is in custody and a rear-seat passenger remained at large in KTSA's report.

A man wanted on a felony narcotics warrant is in critical condition after police say he fired a gun at undercover San Antonio police officers Sunday evening on the West Side, KTSA News reported. Officers responded to the shooting around 7:20 p.m. in the 8200 block of Marbach Road, according to SAPD Chief Jesse Salame.
Salame said undercover officers had been following the 31-year-old suspect to multiple locations as they tried to confirm his identity, KTSA reported. The man realized he was being followed, began waving a firearm out of his vehicle and fired shots at the officers, prompting them to return fire. The pursuit continued to Marbach Road and Horal Drive, where investigators said the suspect tried to turn around, caused at least one crash and struck a tree near a Burger King; the wounded man then fled on foot but collapsed a short time later and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
A front-seat passenger was taken into custody, while a rear-seat passenger fled and remained at large, KTSA reported. Salame said several nearby vehicles were struck during the exchange of gunfire, but no officers or bystanders were injured, and a firearm was recovered from the suspect's vehicle. The four officers involved have between eight and 10 years of experience, the chief said, and investigators recovered several shell casings from Horal Drive. Authorities stressed the details remain preliminary as multiple investigations into the shooting continue.
