San Antonio Tops GoDaddy's 2026 Most Entrepreneurial Cities List, With 11 Percent Microbusiness Growth
GoDaddy's Small Business Research Lab ranked San Antonio No. 1 for 2026, citing 11 percent year-over-year growth and 9,232 new businesses, with Zillow housing data showing below-average home values and rent.
San Antonio claimed the top spot on GoDaddy's 2026 list of America's Most Entrepreneurial Cities, released June 30 through PR Newswire. The GoDaddy Small Business Research Lab built the list from the cities with the highest rate of business growth during the previous calendar year, and for the first time GoDaddy partnered with Zillow to add housing data for each market.
The published table puts San Antonio first with 11 percent year-over-year growth and 9,232 new businesses created. Zillow's accompanying figures — which did not factor into the ranking — list a typical San Antonio home value of $278,644 against a national average of $366,712, typical rent of $1,398 against $1,930 nationally, and a Market Heat Index of 50, a neutral market. The release says that for every small business added in the San Antonio area, five new jobs are created.
GoDaddy's small business economist Alexandra Rosen said in the release that the footprint of American entrepreneurship is shifting deeper into non-traditional places. Zillow Chief Economist Mischa Fisher said in the same release that when housing is attainable and plentiful, entrepreneurs feel more confident putting down roots. El Paso also made the Texas showing on the list at No. 4, and Texas, Florida and New Mexico together accounted for half of the top 10.
