A San Antonio resident has claimed a $1 million Texas Lottery prize after purchasing a winning Casino Millions scratch ticket at a neighborhood H-E-B, according to Texas Lottery figures reported Wednesday. The ticket was sold at H-E-B Food Store #235, located at 9255 Grissom Road in San Antonio. The winner elected to remain anonymous, and the Lottery has not released additional details about the person who claimed the prize or when the ticket was purchased.

The win may also pay the store. For selling the winning ticket, the H-E-B location may qualify for a $10,000 bonus through the Texas Lottery's Retailer Bonus Program, which rewards eligible businesses that sell certain top prize-winning tickets.

Casino Millions, officially Game No. 2689, is a $50 scratch ticket offering more than $195.3 million in total prizes. The San Antonio claim was the third $1 million top prize claimed in the game; according to the Lottery's official game information as of October 27, 10 top prizes were originally available and seven remained unclaimed. The game's overall odds of winning any prize are approximately 1 in 3.45 — a figure that includes break-even prizes, such as winning $50 on a $50 ticket, so a winning ticket does not necessarily mean coming away ahead.

Lottery revenue also funds state programs: since 1997, more than $37 billion has been contributed to the Foundation School Fund, which supports public education across Texas, and certain revenues support the Fund for Veterans' Assistance, according to the Lottery figures carried in Wednesday's report. Tickets may only be purchased by people 18 or older, and players are encouraged to play responsibly.
