San Antonio Public Library's Free Halloween Run Enters Its Final Days, From Potranco Crafts Today to Halloween Saturday
The San Antonio Public Library's citywide lineup of free Halloween events closes out this week: a children's craft session at Potranco this afternoon, preschool parties Thursday, and a full Halloween Saturday at McCreless, Pruitt and Forest Hills.

San Antonio families looking for a free Halloween plan do not have to travel far this week. The San Antonio Public Library is closing out a citywide October lineup of free Halloween events with programs at neighborhood branches through Saturday, Oct. 31, according to the library's schedule as published by My Neighborhood News (sourced to SAPL, updated Oct. 28).
Today's stop is Kid's Time: Halloween Craft at the Potranco Branch Library, 8765 State Highway 151, from 4 to 5 p.m. — children can create Halloween decorations to take home; the program is recommended for ages 6 to 12, with younger children welcome with adult assistance. Thursday brings two preschool-friendly events: a Halloween Party on the Playground at the Schaefer Branch, 6322 U.S. Highway 87 East, from 10 to 11 a.m. for ages five and younger (costumes encouraged), and a not-too-spooky Family Story Time at Forest Hills, 5245 Ingram Road, from 11 to 11:55 a.m. for ages three to five.
Halloween itself, Saturday, Oct. 31, carries three closers: Halloween Family Fun at the McCreless Branch, 1023 Ada St., from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with games and crafts; Spooky Cookies & Crafts for Adults at the Molly Pruitt Library, 5110 Walzem Road, from 1 to 3 p.m.; and Spooky Saturday at Forest Hills from 3 to 5 p.m., a Halloween movie before trick-or-treating, with costumes and snacks encouraged. The month's run also included the Central Spooktacular on Oct. 24 and Landa Boo on Oct. 27. The library notes that some workshops require advance sign-up and craft supplies can be limited, and lists its information line at 210-207-2500 and mysapl.org for event details.
