San Antonio's family Halloween weekend runs from Thursday through Sunday, and the biggest stops are the familiar ones. Zoo Boo! is back at the San Antonio Zoo, where children in costume collect candy at eco-friendly trick-or-treat stations, with the activities included in regular zoo admission or membership, Visit San Antonio's official guide says. At Morgan's Wonderland, the Halloween Bash closes its run on Halloween night with extended hours, lit-up rides and trick-or-treating, on a program built to be accessible for all.

Saturday itself is the fullest day. The DoSeum marks Halloween with trick-or-treating on Oct. 31, one day into its Gabby's Dollhouse Meowseum Discovery Days, which run Oct. 30 through Nov. 1. The Rock at La Cantera hosts a free Halloween Spooktacular on Oct. 31 with trunk-or-treating, a costume contest, a live DJ and a petting zoo, with guests encouraged to RSVP. Chicken N Pickle's Hall-O-Fest runs free from 6 to 10 p.m. that night, and the Contemporary's Halloween Artfest runs 4:30 to 7 p.m. with hands-on art, a photo booth and a dog costume contest.

Just outside the city, Natural Bridge Caverns' Cavern Bat Fest runs its final weekend, Oct. 3 through Nov. 1 on the attraction's seasonal calendar: a mini hay maze, a bat scavenger hunt, live music and yard games, with free trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 from 3 to 5 p.m. and free AMAZEn' Ranch Round-Up maze admission for children in family-friendly costumes. Bat Fest's listed seasonal activities are free, Visit San Antonio notes, with parking at $10 a day and cavern tours extra.
