Rays Walk Off the Brewers 4-3 in 12 Innings to Stay Alive in the World Series, Forcing Game 5 Wednesday Night

Milwaukee was three outs from its first championship after Cooper Pratt's 12th-inning homer — then a throwing error opened the door, and four straight Tampa Bay singles walked it off at Tropicana Field.

The Tampa Bay Rays are still alive. Down to their final three outs and trailing in the 12th inning, the Rays rallied for two runs in the bottom half to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night, staving off elimination and forcing a Game 5, the Associated Press reported. Milwaukee still leads the series 3-1.

Milwaukee moved within reach of its first World Series title when rookie Cooper Pratt hit a tiebreaking home run off Ian Seymour in the top of the 12th for a 3-2 lead, capping a four-hit night. But in the bottom half, Tampa Bay's Junior Caminero reached on a throwing error by third baseman Joey Ortiz against reliever Antonio Senzatela, Liam Hicks singled off Shane Drohan, and Jonny DeLuca singled to center to drive in pinch-runner Cedric Mullins and tie the game at 3.

Chandler Simpson's single loaded the bases against a five-man infield, and pinch-hitter Ben Williamson — who had been 1 for 15 in the postseason — bounced a chopper over first baseman Jake Bauers and into right field to plate pinch-runner Nick Fortes with the winning run. Tampa Bay became just the fifth of 26 teams that fell behind 3-0 in the World Series to win Game 4; the previous four all lost Game 5. Game 5 is Wednesday night at Tropicana Field, with the Brewers again one win from their first championship and the Rays again facing elimination.
