A dress worn by a local woman at San Antonio's Muertos Fest over the weekend, memorializing people who died at the hands of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is going viral on social media, the San Antonio Current reported Tuesday. The black dress, created and worn by Almeda Cindy, carried the words “ICE Victims” and “Never Forgotten” on the front, with the names and faces of people killed by ICE stitched along its skirt.

The people memorialized on the dress include Minneapolis nurse Alex Pretti, Minneapolis mother of three Nicole Good and Keith Porter Jr., who was shot and killed by an off-duty ICE agent in Los Angeles, according to the Current, which noted that Pretti, Good and Porter were all U.S. citizens. Muertos Fest is billed as the nation's largest Día de los Muertos celebration.

A video of the dress posted on Instagram by local influencer Siempre San Antonio had racked up nearly 100,000 likes and 3,000 comments as of press time, the Current reported. “Breaks my heart to see the portraits of the victims of ICE,” one commenter wrote. “Really sad, but a beautiful tribute to them. May their souls rest in peace.” Another added: “Too many innocent people who died for no reason.”

Cindy did not respond to the Current's request for comment. The Current also reported, citing CBS News, that at least nine people have been shot and killed by ICE since the start of President Donald Trump's second term and at least 13 others injured, and, citing Democracy Now!, that at least 59 other people have died while in migrant detention facilities. Those figures are reported here as the Current reported them.
