Monday AM Drive: The Halloween Weekend Closures Lifted at 5 A.M. — U.S. 281, I-35 and Highway 90 Connections Are Back on Schedule
The TxDOT closure windows that ran all weekend — the U.S. 281/Loop 1604 connections, the I-35 Eisenhauer frontage and exit, and Highway 90's one-direction-at-a-time striping — were scheduled to end by 5 a.m. Monday, returning the AM drive to its normal pattern.

San Antonio's Monday drive started without the weekend's construction map. The closure reporting read by the desk this cycle put the end of the Halloween weekend windows at 5 a.m. Monday, November 2: the two U.S. 281–Loop 1604 connections on the Far North Side — the southbound U.S. 281 frontage road at Loop 1604 and the eastbound-to-westbound Loop 1604 turnaround at U.S. 281, closed since Friday at 8 p.m. for bridge widening — and the Northeast Side I-35 restrictions at Eisenhauer Road, where the southbound frontage road, southbound Exit 164A and the northbound-to-southbound turnaround had been closed since Friday at 11 p.m. under the I-35 Northeast Expansion Program.
Farther west, Highway 90's window ended earlier still: TxDOT closed the highway between Loop 1604 and Loop 410 from Friday at 9 p.m. until Sunday at 5 a.m. for striping in the U.S. 90 expansion, one direction at a time rather than both at once. The shorter overnight Fratt Road window — the southbound I-35 frontage road south of Fratt Road and southbound Exit 165, Saturday 9 p.m. to Sunday 8 a.m. — also closed out the weekend series.
Two long-running restrictions remain in force and are not part of the reopening: the Loop 410 westbound Honeysuckle Lane exit, closed through summer 2027, and — starting tonight at 9 p.m. — the northbound I-35 frontage road's right-turn lane onto Frost Bank Center Drive, closed until shortly before Thanksgiving, which will matter for tonight's Spurs traffic. Schedules can shift with weather and field conditions; the desk advises drivers to confirm current conditions on TxDOT's DriveTexas site before heading out.
