Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones Joins PBS 'Breaking the Deadlock' Panel on Artificial Intelligence (T.W.A. NEWS)

San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones appeared Tuesday night as one of eight panelists on the PBS series Breaking the Deadlock, in an episode titled 'AI: Who's in Control?' that aired on KLRN at 8 p.m. on Oct. 27, according to CultureMap San Antonio.

The series, moderated by UC Davis law professor Aaron Tang, asks panelists from across the political spectrum to debate hypothetical scenarios rooted in real issues. CultureMap reported Ortiz Jones was joined by panelists including former U.S. Senator Joe Manchin III and former CNN anchor Campbell Brown, and that the episode grappled with data centers, AI surveillance from Flock cameras and related questions.

CultureMap noted Ortiz Jones brought a local perspective as San Antonio considers its own approach to the technology, and reported that in late September three environmental groups sued data center developer Vantage and energy supplier VoltaGrid, alleging two West Side facilities were built without required permits, pollution-control measures and public input.
