Monday AM Drive: The Loop 1604 and I-10 Overnight Closures Lift at 5 A.M., and the Weekend Detours End
The last of the weekend's three overnight closures at the Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange is scheduled to end at 5 a.m. Monday — eastbound I-10 mainlanes and both Loop 1604 frontage roads reopen for the morning drive, with all flyover ramps open, as the $1.4 billion Loop 1604 North Expansion rolls into its weekday pattern.

San Antonio's Monday morning drive starts with the interchange back. TxDOT's weekend closure series at Loop 1604 and I-10 — the eastbound and westbound Loop 1604 frontage roads and the eastbound I-10 mainlanes, closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Friday, October 30 through Monday, November 2 for bridge-widening work, weather permitting — is scheduled to complete with the Sunday-night closure ending at 5 a.m. Monday, KTSA reported. Through the weekend, drivers were directed onto frontage roads and U-turns, truck and oversized vehicles had a separate detour, and all flyover ramps remained open.
The work is part of the $1.4 billion Loop 1604 North Expansion, which is widening 23 miles of Loop 1604 between Bandera Road and I-35. The weekend series was three separate overnight closures — Friday into Saturday, Saturday into Sunday and Sunday into Monday — not one continuous shutdown, and the roads reopened during each day.
Monday's reopening is not the end of construction at the interchange, only of this closure series. TxDOT's project guidance carries recurring weekday work on the corridor: nighttime lane closures generally run 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings, and the project's weekly notice has carried alternating daytime frontage-road closures, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., between Bandera Road and I-10 with one lane open at all times — all subject to change for weather or construction conditions. Drivers on the AM drive should still expect cones and shifting patterns through the corridor, and check DriveTexas before leaving.
