Actress and activist Jane Fonda and her climate PAC, JanePAC, have endorsed Democratic candidate Katy Padilla Stout in her race to represent Texas' 23rd Congressional District, the South Texas district stretching from San Antonio to El Paso, the San Antonio Current reported. The seat was left vacant after the resignation of Republican Tony Gonzales.

In a video posted to Instagram on Monday, the PAC targeted Padilla Stout's Republican opponent, gun YouTuber Brandon Herrera, over comments he made in a 2022 podcast appearance defending Nestle after the company's former chairman said recognizing water as a human right was an "extreme" position. "If you're looking for Brandon Herrera, he's probably digging up and refining water (you know, like Nestle does)," the video's caption read, in the Current's account.

Padilla Stout, a San Antonio attorney and former public school teacher, also received endorsements in the past 24 hours from two sheriffs at either end of the district - Bexar County's Javier Salazar and El Paso County's Oscar Ugarte. The two law enforcement officials appear in a new Padilla Stout campaign video that calls Herrera "sick and dangerous" and criticizes Herrera over past videos and remarks, the Current reported. The Herrera campaign's response was not included in the Current's report.
