More Than 11,000 Public Health Professionals Come to San Antonio Sunday for APHA 2026, the Meeting's First Texas Stop in Four Decades
The American Public Health Association's Annual Meeting and Expo runs November 1-4 downtown under the theme 'Together We Thrive: Health Across the Lifespan.'

San Antonio hosts one of the largest public health gatherings in the country starting Sunday. The American Public Health Association's 2026 Annual Meeting and Expo will be held November 1-4 in downtown San Antonio, and The Nation's Health, the association's newspaper, reported the city is preparing to welcome over 11,000 public health professionals for four days.
This year's meeting is themed 'Together We Thrive: Health Across the Lifespan,' and it marks the premier public health event's return to Texas for the first time in four decades, according to The Nation's Health. Sessions and panels will take up health disparities and practical work on healthier communities from childhood through older adulthood.
The host city is part of the program. APHA's own preview of the meeting highlighted San Antonio efforts including SA CORE, the crisis response program that pairs a police officer, a paramedic and a licensed clinician to respond to behavioral health emergencies. APHA CEO Georges Benjamin, who lived in the San Antonio area for three years during his residency at Brooke Army Medical Center, told The Nation's Health: 'I want people to come, have a good time and learn as much as they can.' Downtown drivers should expect a busy convention week around the meeting venues.
