New 254 Labs Poll Puts Democrats Ahead in Every Texas Statewide Race, With Talarico Leading Paxton by Eight
A 254 Labs survey conducted by YouGov Blue among 1,000 Texas registered voters from October 21 to 26 finds Democrats leading all five statewide contests polled, with a margin of error of about 4.6 points.

A new Texas survey puts a Democrat ahead in every statewide race it tested. The 254 Labs poll, conducted by YouGov Blue from October 21 to 26 among 1,000 registered voters, finds James Talarico leading Ken Paxton 51 percent to 43 percent in the U.S. Senate race, with 5 percent undecided, according to the organization's published results, read in full this cycle. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.6 percentage points.
The rest of the statewide ticket runs closer. Gina Hinojosa leads Greg Abbott 49 percent to 46 percent for governor; Vikki Goodwin leads Dan Patrick 48 percent to 45 percent for lieutenant governor; Nathan Johnson leads Mayes Middleton 47 percent to 45 percent for attorney general; and Jon Rosenthal leads Bo French 47 percent to 43 percent for railroad commissioner. Each of those margins sits inside or near the survey's margin of error, while the eight-point Senate margin sits outside it.
The poll also finds Talarico leading Paxton 60 percent to 31 percent among independents, and leading 57 percent to 41 percent among voters who say they are more enthusiastic about voting this November than in previous elections. YouGov Blue interviewed the voters online and by text-to-web on behalf of 254 Labs, weighting the sample to likely-voter targets that include early-vote turnout; full crosstabs are available to 254 Labs subscribers. The survey is one reading among several in the final week — other recent polls have put the Senate race considerably closer — and early voting in Texas runs through Friday, October 30, with Election Day on Tuesday, November 3.
