Texas Early Voting Passes 5 Million Ballots With Four Days Left to Vote Early
Texas voters have cast 5,014,466 ballots as of Tuesday — 4,796,596 in person and 217,870 by mail — already reaching 91 percent of the state's entire 2022 early-vote total, according to counts collected from state election offices.

More than 5 million Texans have now voted early. As of Tuesday, Oct. 27, the statewide count stood at 5,014,466 ballots — 4,796,596 cast in person and 217,870 returned by mail — according to On Point Politics' early-vote tracker, which compiles counts from state election offices via civicAPI.
The total is already 91 percent of the 5.51 million early ballots cast in the whole 2022 midterm early-voting period, with four days of early voting still to run through Friday, Oct. 30. Texas does not publish the party of its early voters; On Point Polling's model of the ballots cast so far estimates a Republican lead of 8.1 points in the early vote, about 1.1 points better for Democrats than the model expected at this stage.
The pace is being driven by the toss-up U.S. Senate race between Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico and a governor's race in which Greg Abbott seeks a fourth term against Gina Hinojosa. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and Bexar County voters can cast an early ballot at any county early-voting site through Friday.
