Texas Early Vote Nears 4.4 Million Ballots as the Final Week Opens With Long Lines
County files through Sunday put the statewide early vote at 4,394,304 ballots — about 23 percent of Texas' record 19 million registered voters — and Monday morning brought lines back to Bexar County polling places.

Texas' early vote stood at 4,394,304 ballots through Sunday, according to the Secretary of State's county data files as tallied by the NewsCubby early-vote tracker — 4,192,368 cast in person and 201,936 by mail, about 23.1 percent of the 19,041,684 registered voters in the same files. The figures are unofficial and county-reported, and Sunday alone added 184,004 in-person votes from the 155 counties that held Sunday voting or had reported.
The final week opened busy. KSAT video from Monday morning showed Bexar County voters lined up by the dozens at polling places as the second week began, and counties were adding staff and equipment and publishing wait-time maps to manage the lines. In the Secretary of State's files through Sunday, Bexar County stood at 256,946 ballots — behind Harris County's 579,313, Dallas County's 371,806, Tarrant County's 337,084 and Travis County's 262,721 among the big counties.
The practical facts for the rest of the week: in-person early voting runs through Friday, Oct. 30, with Bexar County polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Election Day follows on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Voters can cast an early ballot at any site in their home county, and the county elections department's site lists locations and hours.
