Power Outage Closes a Nueces County Early Voting Site Monday Morning; It Reopened at Noon
A damaged power line knocked out the Ethel Eyerly Senior Center in Corpus Christi on Oct. 26; the building was evacuated as a precaution, ballots were protected, and voting resumed at noon.

CORPUS CHRISTI — An early voting location in Nueces County is back open after a power outage on Monday, Oct. 26, according to Nueces County Clerk Kara Sands. The Ethel Eyerly Senior Center lost power because of a damaged power line, Sands said in a social media post.
The senior center was evacuated as a precaution to ensure safety while the outage was dealt with. Sands said voting at the senior center had officially resumed as of noon on Oct. 26.
Sands thanked Election Lead Leroy Bunch, Nueces County Precinct 2 Constable Jason McCahan and AEP Texas for their efforts in protecting ballots, rolling out emergency procedures and restoring power. No ballots were reported lost in the accounts published Monday.
All early voting locations in Nueces County are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Oct. 26 to Oct. 30, the final week of early voting before the Nov. 3 election. Voters in every Texas county can cast an early ballot at any open site in their county of registration.
