The races at the top of the ballot will draw the crowds on Tuesday, but Bexar County's ballot keeps going long after them. The county's official Notice of Joint General and Special Election, read this cycle, lists the local questions voters will also decide on November 3: federal, state and county offices and the Bexar County Appraisal District; a charter election in the City of San Antonio; a Pre-K 4 sales-and-use tax question in the City of Sandy Oaks; a mayor's race in the City of Schertz; general elections for places 3, 4 and 5 in Windcrest; a street maintenance tax in Hollywood Park; sales-and-use tax questions in Live Oak; and a tax and bond election in China Grove, per the notice.

School and water questions fill out the ballot's tail. The notice carries general elections for places 1, 2, 3 and 6 of the Edwards Aquifer Authority, a property tax question for East Central Independent School District, a voter-approval tax rate election for a school district, Comal ISD places, and Bexar County Municipal Utility District No. 1 places — the kind of low-visibility races that are routinely decided by a few hundred votes and that set tax rates, bond debt and water policy for years, per the notice's own listing. Converse voters separately decide whether VIA Metropolitan Transit service ends in their city, the ballot question this station filed at midday (SQ-20261101-042).

How to vote on the day itself is settled law in this county. Vote centers published on October 4 will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, and Bexar County voters may use any of them, per the notice and the county elections guidance read this cycle; anyone in line at 7 p.m. may still vote. UT San Antonio's Main Campus serves as an Election Day location in the H-E-B Student Union Bexar Room (HSU 1.102), with free short-term voter parking identified in the northern section of the Ximenes Lot, per the university's election guide; the Bexar County Elections Department at 1103 S. Frio Street also votes. The Weather Desk's late-night file puts rain showers at 71 percent for Tuesday — the one part of Election Day no ballot can change.

Dia de los Muertos Sunday in San Antonio: Pearl's Main Celebration and the Esperanza's 31st Annual Procession Through the Westside

San Antonio marked Dia de los Muertos on Sunday at both ends of its tradition: Pearl held its main community celebration — ofrendas, a community altar, live music and its annual procession, free from 5 to 9 p.m. — while the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center staged its 31st annual Dia de Muertos on the Westside, with more than 20 community altars and a 6 p.m. procession to the Alazan-Apache Courts.
