Appeals Court Pauses the Order for Abbott to Open His Musk Communications, Likely Past Election Day
The Fifteenth Court of Appeals paused the order requiring Gov. Greg Abbott to let Gina Hinojosa review his unredacted communications with Elon Musk, a stay Bloomberg Law reports likely holds until after the Nov. 3 election, if the review happens at all.

An order requiring Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to turn over his unredacted communications with billionaire Elon Musk was paused Tuesday by the Court of Appeals, Fifteenth District, Bloomberg Law reported.
The court said Abbott is entitled to an automatic stay of the order because he is challenging the trial court's refusal to rule on its authority to hear the case during a Monday hearing, Bloomberg Law reported. The unsigned order came from the all-Republican appeals court, and Bloomberg Law reported the ruling means Abbott likely will not have to let his Democratic opponent for governor, state Rep. Gina Hinojosa, review the communications until after the Nov. 3 election, if at all.
The pause is the latest turn in the records fight this station covered when a Travis County judge ordered the review and Abbott appealed (SQ-20261026-027). Hinojosa's lawsuit seeks access to more than 1,000 pages of previously redacted communications between the governor's office and Musk, according to earlier reporting on the case.
