Abbott, Paxton and Trump Hit the Texas Campaign Trail: Abilene Monday, Lubbock Tuesday (T.W.A. NEWS)

The final full week of the Texas campaign runs through West Texas. Gov. Greg Abbott visits Abilene on Monday at 9 a.m. for his "Let's Roll" get-out-the-vote event at Betty Rose's Little Brisket, 3934 Catclaw Drive, according to the Abilene Reporter News. Republican state House District 71 candidate Jay Hardaway will join him, and the paper notes an early arrival is recommended because space is limited.

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump visits Lubbock for a 6 p.m. rally at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. Trump will stump for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general, as well as other party candidates, the Reporter News reported. Paxton then returns to Betty Rose's in Abilene at 5 p.m. Wednesday for a campaign event of his own.

The Democratic side is moving too, on a different map. State Rep. Gina Hinojosa, Abbott's opponent for governor, will have barnstormed 16 Texas cities in the final two weeks of her campaign, the paper reported, though her campaign's deputy communications director, Georgia Greenleaf, confirmed in an Oct. 19 email that Hinojosa, who has not visited Abilene, has no stops planned there in the final days. Paxton's opponent, Democrat James Talarico, has campaigned once in Abilene and is not scheduled to return before Election Day, according to the same reporting. In Abilene on Saturday, Democratic House District 71 candidate Diana Luna was set to visit a trunk-or-treat outside the Drug Emporium from 1 to 3 p.m., with both parties block-walking the day.

The trail runs against a hard calendar: early voting ends Friday, Oct. 30, and Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. The Texas Desk will follow the West Texas swing as it lands, and San Antonio voters can still cast ballots at any Bexar County early voting site through Friday.
